Newly released information about Resident Evil 5 |
Producer of RE5, Jun Takeuchi, has decided to share some info about his upcoming game, it’s not a lot, but it gives you a little bit of an idea of when it will release and what you may be fighting in the game. He discussed that the enemies in the game will be, of some sort of a human form that has intelligence (not zombies or Ganado). Also discussed was the female character that will be shown in the game (will also be seen in the Full RE5 trailer , but only for a brief moment, and it can be found on XBOX Live Marketplace, sometime later this month). He didn’t mention any names or anything, but he says it’ll be someone whom fans of the series will recognize when they see her. In the next trailer to come out after the one due out later this month, you will be seeing her in a more significant role. Also on that note, she will be having a big part in both the story, and the game play in Resident Evil 5.
While on the topic of gameplay though, Takeuchi talked about how the hardest part of developing this game is mixing new gameplay elements with part of RE4’s basic gameplay. Like in RE4, RE5 will be played from an over the shoulder perspective (character is on left side of the screen while you look over his/her right shoulder). Takeuchi did promise a big surprise that he believes is an obvious evolution to the gameplay (first-person perspective possibly?). Takeuchi also stated that after seeing the E3 trailer, you may believe that RE5 may look like RE4 at this time in production. He did say though that you’ll have a COMPLETELY different impression after the next trailer.
In a previous discussion, Takeuchi discussed the importance of lighting. May not be a big thing to gamers, but it will effect gameplay in a sense, for example. If your outside in the light from the sun for an extended amount of time, and you walk into a dark, closed up building, it’ll take a short amount of time to adjust to the darkness, so you will not have the ability to aim and shoot like you could if your eyes were adjusted to the surroundings and the darkness, which gives the game a sense of realism, same for if you go outside from being in a dark room or building, you’ll walk outside, eyes try to adjust and for that little amount of time, your vision in the game will be glared and you wont have the ability to aim correctly. That’s a lot of detail and realism being put into this game, and I am sure gamers will appreciate the time that the team took to implement this into the game.
Takeuchi did slip some release information, but for gamers hoping to see it in 2008, well, that time period for release looks grim. From Takeuchi himself, the game will be released some time before….wait for it…..2010. Yes, it will be a long wait, but if they need that amount of time to make it the best game possible, and to make the gameplay work like they want it to and to pump out the graphics they are shooting for, so let them take that amount of time, cause I’m sure all the gamers want a nicely done, and well polished Resident Evil game, instead of a buggy one.
