New Challenger for the Boxing Game Crown |
I was excited to learn today about the new upcoming boxing title set to be released this June - Don King Presents: Prizefighter by 2K Sports. Now i've always felt we needed something new in this genre to differentiate ourselves with what has now become in my opinion, a tiresome effort from EA with their Fight Night series. Graphically it looks beautiful but i just don't think the fights look real enough, the punches just feel sluggish a robotic. I've never quite liked the career mode either. You want the ability to build up classic rivalries in a boxing game the likes of Ali & Foreman, Benn & Eubank etc. But they just felt like mere exhibition matches until you won a belt, nothing really special.
Joe Calzaghe in action in Don King's Prizefighter But going by the trailer and small write ups that i have have read about Prizefighter, it looks as if they are trying to replicate the life of a boxer not only inside the ring, but to also give you that great sense of drama that comes outside the ring. The gameplay is something i am really looking forward to seeing as 2K Sports rarely let us down in this department, not to mention the career modes, game presentaion, match build-ups, analysis etc....they just always deliver! Due out 10th June in the US, 13th June worldwide.
